01 · OVERVIEW

Case overview

On 15 January 2026, Carlos de Sousa, neurosurgeon Ítalo Venturelli, forensic physician Armando Fortunato and filmmaker James Fox met privately in Representative Tim Burchett's office with Burchett, Anna Paulina Luna and Eric Burlison. A public press conference followed at the National Press Club on 20 January, after which testimony videos and some documents were posted online. This was a private meeting attended by members of Congress, not a committee-convened official hearing, congressional record or verified sworn testimony. This file separates the documented events from the truth of the claims presented there.

03 · IMAGE CONTEXT

Image analysis

The photograph documents the four men's participation in the Washington meeting. It does not itself verify their crash, hospital or autopsy claims about 1996.

04 · RECORD TIMELINE

Record chronology

Private meeting with three U.S. House members

The Brazilian delegation met Representatives Tim Burchett, Anna Paulina Luna and Eric Burlison in Burchett's office. It was not a public committee hearing or verified sworn testimony.

Public National Press Club conference

James Fox organized a 30th-anniversary press conference. The public video documents who said what; it does not authenticate the underlying accounts.

Testimony videos and document copies released

Testimony videos and copies described as Chereze autopsy and pathology documents were posted online. Original-document custody and independent examination results were not supplied with them.

05 · EVIDENCE REVIEW

Nature of the evidence

Documented record

A private office meeting attended by three House members occurred on 15 January, followed by a public National Press Club press conference on 20 January. Videos of participants' statements and copies of some documents were released. De Sousa, Venturelli and Fortunato described their alleged crash-site, hospital and autopsy experiences.

Disputed · unresolved

The crashed craft and shape-recovering fragment, military threats, a non-human hospital patient, empathic communication, Chereze's alleged capture and scratch, and a non-conventional or extraterrestrial bacterial origin are presenter claims. The fragment was not retained, no clinical hospital record was produced, and the provenance and interpretation of released documents have not undergone independent forensic or microbiological verification.

Event documented · statements documented · content unverified

New testimony and its verification status

The public recordings establish that the testimony was presented. Appearance in a recording is separate from proof that the described 1996 events occurred.

Core claims

Carlos de Sousa's crash-site account

De Sousa described a cigar-shaped craft descending, an ammonia and rotten-egg odor, an aluminium-like fragment that recovered its shape, an armed soldier ordering him away and later threats. Because the fragment was not retained, its material cannot be tested.

Ítalo Venturelli's hospital account

Venturelli said he spent three to four minutes with a non-human patient with lilac eyes and a teardrop-shaped skull and perceived empathic communication through its gaze. He stopped short of calling it telepathy and said no formal clinical record existed.

Armando Fortunato's autopsy account

Fortunato said the Chereze autopsy showed a recent scar and infectious lesion near the left axilla. The link to an alleged creature scratch was not an autopsy observation known to him at the time but a narrative he learned later.

Janini statement and bacterial interpretation

A released signed statement reportedly raised a non-conventional origin because of the infection's aggressiveness. Separate from the organisms named in the IPM culture sheets, no independent analysis or peer-reviewed study establishing extraterrestrial origin was presented.

Source verification

Exact status of the congressional event

It was a private office meeting attended by three representatives. It has not been identified as an official committee hearing, congressional testimony record or legally sworn evidence.

Did new physical evidence emerge?

The recordings and document copies are newly public sources, but they are not physical evidence of a creature or craft. No public independent testing of a retained fragment, clinical record or biological sample has been identified.

Relationship to the IPM medical material

The public STM IPM already contains Chereze pathology and culture records. The 2026 statements add an extraterrestrial-origin interpretation; they do not independently establish causation.

Provisional conclusionEvidence level: the Washington meeting, press conference and publication of new testimony are documented; the alleged 1996 events and extraterrestrial origin remain independently unverified.

07 · COUNTERANALYSIS

Counterarguments and disputes

01

Does late disclosure increase credibility?

Professional credentials and on-record testimony matter to source assessment, but do not resolve decades-old memory, exposure to later narratives or missing corroborating records.

02

What does congressional attendance mean?

Attendance by members demonstrates political interest. It does not constitute government authentication, committee adoption, evidence validation or an official conclusion of Congress.

03

Document release versus original verification

Online copies help trace claims, but evidentiary weight requires provenance, custody, author authentication and independent examination of originals.

08 · ASSESSMENT

Evidence assessment

01 · Event occurrenceDocumented

Dates, locations and participants of the private meeting and public press conference are documented by video and on-site reporting.

02 · Testimony existsDocumented

The public statements of the three principal witnesses can be reviewed.

03 · Official proceedingNot established

This was a private office meeting, not an official congressional hearing or sworn testimony.

04 · Physical evidenceNo independent verification

No retained fragment, hospital clinical record or independently testable biological sample has been made public.

05 · Effect on DD-41Expands testimony layer

The testimony layer of DD-41 expands, while its finding of unverified extraterrestrial physical evidence remains unchanged.

Provisional conclusionProvisional assessment: the 2026 Washington events substantially expanded the testimonial record and carry political and archival significance because three U.S. representatives heard the witnesses directly. They were not an official congressional hearing, and the new statements and document copies did not provide a retained fragment, clinical record or biological sample capable of independently testing the central claims. DD-42 is classified as a documented release of new testimony with extraterrestrial physical evidence unverified.
