Case overview
In December 2010, the New Zealand Defence Force released roughly 2,000 pages in 15 volumes under information-access procedures. The files mix civilian reports, military correspondence and material on cases such as the Kaikoura lights; release does not validate each claim. A 2023 NZDF response stated that it was not running a dedicated UAP research programme and directed aviation-safety reporting to the Civil Aviation Authority.
