1966 Tully 'saucer nest'

Period · 1966Place · Tully, Queensland, Australia

01 · OVERVIEW

Case overview

On 19 January 1966, George Pedley said he saw a blue-grey object rise from Horseshoe Lagoon near Tully. Reeds at the site were flattened clockwise into a circular mat and photographed by police and press. The 'saucer nest' was later linked to crop-circle lore, while natural explanations invoke floating vegetation, vortices, wind or decay. The eyewitness account and the existence of a reed formation should be assessed separately.
